M’sian Motorcyclist Nabbed For Using Tiny License Plate Smaller Than 5-Cent Coin

Might as well not put it at all.
Getting your license plate captured by a hidden camera or a law enforcement officer can be troublesome, and many people try different ways to avoid it.

But have you ever seen someone make their license plate so small that it’s smaller than a 5-cent coin?

As shown in the image, the tiny license plate numbers are displayed on a large black plate and are barely visible.

A 5-cent coin is held next to the letters and numbers on the plate, and it’s so small that the coin completely covers the entire character, highlighting just how minuscule the markings are.

According to a statement from the Kangar District Police, the rider’s intention was “obviously to avoid being discovered by law enforcement officers when racing.”

Issued 561 tickets for various traffic offenses

Police reports revealed that while no active motorcycle racing activities were seen during the operation, modified motorcycles seized led officers to suspect some riders might have been involved in speed racing.

The operation deployed 56 officers from traffic, crime prevention, and drug enforcement units. By 4 am on Monday (7 Oct), authorities had issued 561 tickets for various traffic offenses, including missing rearview mirrors, driving without a license, no license plate, fake plates, and modified exhaust systems.

The inspected riders and passengers were aged between 13 and 47, with many of them riding for leisure. Fines ranged from RM 300 (S$91) to RM 2,000 (S$609) based on the violation.

Two men were also arrested under the Dangerous Drugs Act. Police took further action against the parents of a 13-year-old who was caught riding a motorcycle.

This wasn’t the first instance of Malaysian police discovering vehicles with small license plates. Similar violations were recorded in 2022.
