An elderly man in Kelantan sustained injuries after his own son used a cempedak (jackfruit) to attack him.
According to Sinar Harian, the accused, Muhamad Zarid Danial Rahim, allegedly carried out the assault at a house in Kampung Sungai Johor, Kuala Krai, at about 11am on Aug 13.
However, it’s not known what was the cause for the attack.
Zarid was charged under Section 325 of the Penal Code and read with Section 326A of the same code for causing voluntary hurt.
Under Section 325 of the Penal Code, it carries a jail term of up to seven years and a fine upon conviction. As for Section 326A, the jail term can be extended to twice the maximum term if the victim is a family member.
Zarid pleaded guilty when the charge was read to him before judge Zulkipli Abllah at the Kota Bharu Sessions Court.
Oct 4 was later fixed for case mention and sentencing.
