A man who was unhappy being roused from his slumber by his wife lost his temper and subsequently threatened to end her life, resulting in him getting charged and fined for criminal intimidation.
M’sian man threatens to kill wife for disturbing his sleep
According to NST, 30-year-old Mohamad Hairul Azizi Othman was brought to the Batu Pahat magistrate’s court yesterday (June 10) following his guilty plea to threatening to kill his wife.

Based on the case facts, the incident occurred at his family home in in Parit Sumarto, Parit Raja at 11.30pm on June 5 when he, his wife, and children were around.
A moment later, a verbal altercation broke out between Mohamad Hairul and his wife after he became angry over being awakened from his sleep and prevented from leaving the house.
As the argument continued, Mohamad Hairul completely lost his cool and uttered ‘I want to slash, I want to kill you’.
Fearing for her safety, Mohamad Hairul’s wife lodged a police report at the Parit Raja police station, leading to his arrest.

Fined RM4,000 by court
In court, Mohamad Hairul pleaded guilty when the charges were read out before Magistrate Suhaila Shafi’uddin.
The charges were framed under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which provides for a maximum jail sentence of seven years, a fine, or both upon conviction.
He was eventually fined RM4,000 in default of two months’ in jail despite the prosecution requesting for a deterrent sentence, who argued that he could potentially strike fear in his wife with his words.
