Unhappy that his plans for marriage didn’t go the way he expected it to, an unemployed man took out his frustrations by brandishing a golf club at his elderly father last May.
This caused his father to run away in fear for his safety and his brother to turn to the police for help, who eventually arrested the suspect, reported Harian Metro.

M’sian man threatens dad with golf club
According to the facts of the case, the accused, 28-year-old Muhammad Muslim Mohd Ali, had an argument with his 67-year-old father on May 14. Muhammad’s brother was later informed about it by his other siblings at 8.20pm.
During the argument, Muhammad threatened to hit his father with a golf club, causing the elderly man to flee in fear.
Concerned for his father’s safety, Muhammad’s brother immediately filed a report at the Batu Pahat District Police Headquarters (IPD) on the day of the incident. This then led to Muhammad’s arrest at 7.20pm the next day.

He was subsequently charged with criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which provides for a prison term of up to two years, a fine, or both upon conviction.
Lashed out due to failed engagement
Previously, the court ordered Muhammad to undergo psychiatric treatment after he was reported to be suffering from depression.
However, that order was rescinded after the court received a report from Hospital Permai Johor Bahru which deemed him fit to stand trial and enter a plea.
In mitigation, Muhammad’s lawyer told the court that his client acted out of frustration after his engagement was broken off earlier this year.

The court then imposed a fine of RM1,000 on Muhammad and ordered him to serve one month in prison if he failed to pay it.
The prosecution was led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Siti Khalijah Khalid, while Muhammad was represented by Zulyati Awang.
