A 40-year-old Malaysian man in Pahang is looking to raise funds for an operation he desperately needs after he got infected with a water-borne bacteria.
The infection has since caused his right leg to become severely distorted and swollen beyond recognition, thus limiting his mobility.

Speaking to Berita Harian about his condition, Mohd Zulkifli Zainal, a staff at the Raub District Forestry Department, said doctors diagnosed him with chronic lymphoedema, an incurable disease that is caused by a type of bacteria found in rivers.
As a result of his condition, his right leg has become so swollen over the span of six years that it now weighs over 60kg.
For the uninitiated, lymphoedema is a medical condition that occurs when one’s lymphatic system fails to function properly, leading to swelling in the body’s tissues and usually affects one’s arms and legs.
Needs RM75,000 for surgery
Mohd Zulkifli said he had sought treatment at government hospitals for his condition but found little to no respite.
“When I went to seek treatment at a private hospital in Kuala Lumpur, doctors recommended that I undergo surgery to remove the excessive flesh.
“Although my right leg continues to swell, it hasn’t caused me too much pain but has only inhibited my movements, forcing me to seek assistance from my wife and colleagues when I work at the office,” he said.
Mohd Zulkifli added he needs RM75,000 for the operation and is hoping the public will be willing to contribute to as he has a limited income.
He also said that thanks to donations by the Pahang state government and various parties, he now has collected over RM30,000.
Those who wish to contribute can do so by donating to his CIMB account 7035954322.
