Sinar Harian reported that the incident occurred near a clinic located in Pekan Bukit Pelandok, Port Dickson on Monday (Nov 6).
According to Port Dickson district police chief Superintendent Aidi Sham Mohamed, he said the 33-year-old victim was found severely injured by the public.
“Based on the information given, the Port Dickson District Police Headquarters’ (IPD) Criminal Investigation Division proceeded to arrest the suspect at a house in Taman Murni, Chuah, at 1.50am.
“A parang used to attack the victim was also seized by police,” he said in a statement.
Aidi added that investigations found that both the suspect and victim, who were friends, had an argument after the victim refused to lend the suspect some money.
The suspect, who was under the influence of alcohol at the time, then attacked the victim with the parang.
“Further examination found that the suspect had 12 previous criminal records involving drugs and is wanted for a drug-related case.
“His urine test also came back positive for methamphetamine, and the suspect is now remanded for six days starting from Tuesday for further investigation,” he said.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison, a fine, and caning.
