For some, having your romantic partner not replying your text message in a timely manner or worse still, ignoring it altogether, is no doubt a cause for a conflict to flare up.
This was what happened between a couple which eventually led to assault and the boyfriend getting fined by the court.
Slapped GF over unanswered ‘Good morning, sayang’ text
According to NST, the incident took place last Thursday (Oct 10) at a pet store in Jalan Parit Bilal, Johor at 12.15pm.
It all began with a tender ‘Good morning, sayang’ text sent by 20-year-old Muhamad Nurhaqimi Harun via WhatsApp to his girlfriend, who left it unanswered.

When she brought Muhamad Nurhaqimi’s lunch to his workplace, he confronted her and expressed unhappiness over the text message being ignored by her.
A verbal argument then broke out between them and Muhamad Nurhaqim slapped his girlfriend across her left cheek, causing her to suffer minor injuries.
She later sought treatment at Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital and subsequently lodged a police report at the Batu Pahat district police headquarters (IPD).
Fined RM800 for assault
At the Batu Pahat Magistrate’s Court, Muhamad Nurhaqim was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
It carries up to one year in jail, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, upon conviction.

He pleaded guilty to the charge when it was read out before magistrate Suhaila Shafi’uddin by a court interpreter.
Muhamad Nurhaqim was eventually fined RM800 in default of 14 days in jail after the court heard submissions from both sides.
