A few years ago, MRT and KTM coaches specially for women were introduced as a way to provide a safe space for female passengers while travelling. Unfortunately, it has also seen a fair share of male passengers taking up the space too.
A viral TikTok video recently showed a man having a public meltdown after he was told off by a woman for being at the women’s coach, much to the shock of onlookers.
Man gets angry over being scolded for being at MRT women’s coach
In the clip uploaded by CHAI HUAT TO, it began with the man in a red-collared shirt shouting at a woman who apparently lectured him for being at the women’s coach.
As the woman continued to tell the man that he wasn’t allowed to be at the women’s coach, it only seemed to make him more agitated and challenged he to contact the police.
Shut up! Shut up! Ask the police to catch me lah. Come, ask the police to catch me, I’ll stay here. Come, come. I dare you to call (the police).
Apparently, it turned out that the reason why the man was inside the woman’s coach was because he had his daughter with him and felt that he needed to accompany her.
He also called the woman ‘ridiculous’ for chasing him out of the woman’s coach and ditch his daughter behind.
When the woman told the man to take his daughter with him to another section of the MRT, the man refused to budge and once again told her to call the police.
All throughout the commotion, the other passengers only looked on in muted silence as they watched the chaos unfold.
In the end, the woman had to seek help from the staff, with one of them trying to calm the man down. However, the man continued to be rather aggressive while arguing with the staff that he did nothing wrong.
Netizens praise woman’s actions
The clip has since garnered more than 900,000 views at the time of writing, with many commending the woman for telling the man off.
They also slammed the man for making a huge issue out of something seemingly so minor, with one saying that the conflict could’ve been avoided if he simply moved to another section of the MRT.
Another sarcastically commented that if one were to follow the man’s reason for being at the women’s coach, it would also give him permission to enter the female’s toilet.
