A Malaysian woman has accused her husband of crossing boundaries with female colleagues, including sharing a hotel room with his female superior during a work trip, which he excused as a “company budget constraint.”
The case was recently highlighted by local DJ Chan Fong on his radio programme “大城心事” after it was submitted by a listener identified only as Ms. Y.
Suspicious Late-Night Messages
Ms. Y has been married to her husband for 13 years, and the couple shares a son together. To outsiders, their marriage appeared loving and stable, with her husband often described as a “good man.”
But behind closed doors, she said, he frequently resorted to emotional coldness and avoidance whenever conflicts arose, leaving her to deal with problems on her own.
The trust between them began to crumble in April this year when Ms. Y discovered a female colleague sending her husband private WhatsApp messages at 2 a.m.

She also noticed that he deliberately deleted chat histories, which made her even more suspicious.
I knew something was wrong. The next day was a public holiday, but he left early claiming he had work to do. That confirmed my doubts,” she shared.
When confronted, her husband admitted that the colleague had confessed her feelings for him. He insisted that deleting the chats was only to avoid upsetting his wife. Still, Ms. Y said she found it hard to believe.

Crossing the line during business trips
Despite repeated reminders from Ms. Y that male and female colleagues should maintain professional boundaries, her husband continued to brush her concerns aside.
Her heartbreak deepened when she later discovered that during two separate business trips, her husband had stayed in the same hotel room as his recently divorced female boss.
When questioned, he explained that the company had “no budget for separate rooms” and that since his superior had not objected, she should simply accept it.

This broke my heart again. This time it really crossed my marriage boundary,” Ms. Y said.
She claimed that her husband then impatiently suggested an arrangement:
I’ll move out. From Monday to Thursday the child stays with me, and from Friday to Sunday, the child is with you. We’ll split the costs equally.”
Confused, Ms. Y questioned if this was his way of asking for a divorce.
A Marriage At Breaking Point
Her husband later clarified that he was not seeking divorce, but only wanted her to “calm down.”
However, when she asked him to either leave the company or end the marriage, he refused, citing the difficulty of finding new work in his 40s.
This left Ms. Y doubting herself and her role in the marriage.
I’ve always fulfilled my duties as a wife and mother. Now I wonder if I was wrong all along,” she said.
