Amidst the disappointment of being excluded from a family wedding, emotions reached a boiling point, creating a precarious situation.
A Malaysian man was recently arrested for burning mattress and pillows at home because he was upset that his family didn’t bring him along to his nephew’s wedding.

Reported by Kosmo!, the incident unfolded yesterday (Jan 20) at approximately 9 pm when a 57-year-old woman detected a burning smell in her house.
Upon searching, she discovered that her husband, a 61-year-old man, had set fire to the mattress and pillows in one of the rooms using a lighter.
Fortunately, the woman managed to extinguish the flames before they could cause more extensive damage.
Frustrated because not invited
The motive behind this shocking act was rooted in the husband’s resentment at not being included in the family’s occasion – his nephew’s wedding in Kajang.
According to Ampang Jaya District Police Chief ACP Mohd Azam, the suspect’s frustration reached a tipping point when he learned that neither his wife nor his son had brought him along to the wedding.
Promptly responding to the situation, the police apprehended the 61-year-old suspect at 10:10 pm on the same day. Authorities also confiscated the lighter used in the act.
ACP Mohd Azam emphasized that the incident is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code, which pertains to mischief by fire.
This distressing incident serves as a poignant reminder of the crucial need to address family conflicts in a constructive and non-violent manner.
Regardless of the magnitude of the issue at hand, resorting to violence or damaging property is never the solution.
