Receiving unexpected spam calls can indeed be a disconcerting experience, often leaving individuals feeling vulnerable and unsettled.
Recently, a Malaysian man found himself in such a situation, bombarded with a relentless stream of spam calls that deeply traumatized him.
Reportedly, the 45-year-old man experienced severe distress after receiving over 100 calls from unknown numbers between 2pm and 6pm yesterday (June 11).
According to Harian Metro, the victim, Kamarul, answered a few calls, and most of the callers claimed that he had contacted them first.
“This was surprising since I hadn’t called or messaged any of those numbers,” Kamarul recounted.
He also stated that all the incoming numbers were new and not saved in his contact list.
“My phone kept ringing every minute, making it seem like I was working as a phone operator. Every caller said I had called them first. I had to explain to each caller that my phone might have been hacked,” he added.
He seeks help from the service centre
In response to the incident, Kamarul visited his mobile network provider’s service center for an explanation.
The staff suggested that his phone might have been hacked and assured him they would address the issue promptly.
When faced with numerous calls from unfamiliar numbers, refrain from answering immediately, instead, seek assistance from your network provider.
This proactive step is crucial for protecting your privacy and security in the digital age.
