Most people would look to take out a loan when they hit rough financial times, but it’s never an excuse to resort to dishonest or criminal means to achieve it.
A loan officer recently shared an unsettling encounter she had with a man who was desperate to apply for a loan that he was ready to break the law to do so.
Wanted to take loan behind wife’s back
In a Threads post, the loan officer shared screenshots of a conversation she had with the man, who had approached her with the intention of applying for a loan.
During the conversation, the man revealed that he was unemployed and asked whether he was eligible for the loan. In response, the loan officer said he wasn’t.

The man then asked whether he could apply for the loan using his wife’s name, to which the loan officer said was doable but required his wife to be present to sign the loan agreement.
What came out of the man’s mouth next truly shocked her.
“Can I be the one to sign the agreement instead? This is because I want to take out the loan without her knowledge as she’s a little difficult to reason with.
“She’s also a government servant and this is why it’s hard for her to take out a loan, especially a bank loan.
Offered RM1K to forge signature
When the loan officer insisted that the man’s wife had to be one to sign the agreement if the loan was to be under her name, the man tried one more trick up his sleeve: offering a RM1,000 bribe to have his wife’s signature forged.

When the loan officer flatly declined the bribe, the man became agitated and said: “This is so stupid. Why work in loans if you can’t even help me?”
The entire encounter left the loan officer stunned and she urged the man’s wife to keep a closer eye on him lest he attempts to do the same in the future.
Online praise for officer
Netizens were impressed by the loan’s officer’s integrity and commended her for standing her ground.

Another said he hopes the man’s wife will take notice of the loan’s officer’s post and divorce him quickly.
