A man lost his life in a gruesome manner after a tiger attacked him, leaving him with severe injuries that led to his eventual death on Tuesday (Oct 15).
This was later confirmed by police, who released a statement providing more details on how the tragedy happened.

According to the statement, the 54-year-old victim, who worked as a heavy machinery operator, was on his way to a toilet between 5am and 6am.
The toilet was located at a workers’ dormitory at the 79.2 km mark of the Gerik-Jeli route on the East-West Highway in Hulu Perak.
The victim’s wife, who’s from Thailand, suddenly heard a tiger roaring and when she opened the door of the house, she saw him being dragged towards the bushes and contacted the police.
“At 8.25am, police were alerted of the incident and a team was deployed the scene immediately to conduct a rescue operation.
“The Bersia police station chief and 3 officers, Gerik district criminal investigation department (CID) officers and 10 personnel from the Department of Wildlife Protection and National Parks (Perhilitan) came at 10.30am to search for the victim,” the statement read.
Unfortunately, what they found at 12pm was the victim’s mangled corpse, where he sustained serious injuries to his neck and left foot .
The case was classified as sudden death (SDR) and the victim’s body was sent to the Gerik Hospital for an autopsy.
