M’sian Man Lies To Police About Robbery As He Was Afraid Wife Would Scold Him For Spending All His Salary

😬😬
For married couples, there are certain matters that either side would prefer to keep hidden from their partner, and money is definitely one of those things at the top of the list.

A man in Terengganu was so terrified of his wife’s anger over him spending all of his salary that he resorted to cooking up a story about being robbed to police, which only led to more trouble for him in the end.

Kemaman police chief Superintendent Hanyan Ramlan said the man told police that he was on his way back home in Teluk Kalong after withdrawing money at a petrol station in Kijal, where he was flagged down by a Rohingya man asking for his help to take a friend to a clinic.

He then claimed that when he got out of the vehicle, the Rohingya man pointed a knife at his back, while his friend, who was lying on the ground, stood up and brandished a machete at his stomach.

“He also claimed that the Rohingya man took RM1,100 from his pocket before fleeing on a motorcycle,” he said.

Was afraid of wife scolding him for spending entire salary

Unfortunately for the man, his story quickly fell apart once police launched an investigation into the supposed robbery, which turned out to be fake.

The man later admitted to police that he had concocted the story about him getting robbed as he was afraid of making his wife mad for spending his entire salary, which included their living expenses.

Aside from that, he had also lent money to a female friend.

Hanyan said the case is now being probed under Section 182 of the Penal Code for giving a public servant information known to be false, which provides for a maximum jail term of six months or a maximum fine of RM2,000 or both.
