On the evening of July 14th, 2024, at around 6:00 PM, an unexpected and alarming incident occurred in the restroom of Starhill Mall, Kuala Lumpur.
A man found himself in a dangerous situation when another individual chose to stand unusually close behind him despite the availability of other urinals.

The victim’s family detailed the incident to WeirdKaya, explaining that the victim, feeling uneasy about the suspect’s close proximity, gave him a stare to scare him off, prompting the suspect to walk towards the restroom exit.
“The victim gave him a stare to scare him off, causing the suspect to walk towards the exit. Upon taking a good look (and assuming there was no one else in the toilet), the suspect ran back, put the victim in a chokehold and attacked him from behind. “
Believing he was now alone, the victim was caught off guard when the suspect suddenly returned and launched a violent attack from behind.
The suspect put the victim in a chokehold and attacked him with a kerambit, a curved knife commonly used in martial arts.
The victim suffered head injuries during the scuffle, with deep cuts and a concussion.
Suspect tried to flee but fell
In a desperate attempt to escape and seek help, the victim ran out of the restroom, screaming. The commotion attracted the attention of nearby boutique staff and the victim’s co-workers.
Despite the presence of mall security, it was these bystanders who intervened and managed to subdue the suspect.
The suspect tried to flee through a glass door linked to the car park but fell, allowing the bystanders to pin him down once more.
The weapon was recovered at the scene: Kerambit
Despite the victim’s profuse bleeding and continuous calls for security assistance, security personnel were slow to physically intervene, primarily giving directions and making phone calls.
The suspect’s kerambit was recovered at the scene and handed over to the police. The victim received first aid on-site before being transported to the hospital by ambulance.
He remains in the hospital with serious injuries but is currently in a stable condition, requiring further monitoring.
