In yet another horrific case of a father failing to protect his children and instead became a sexual predator, a court in Johor recently sentenced a man to more than 200 years in prison for raping his daughter since she only 12 years old.
As a result of the rape, the victim became pregnant with her father’s child and gave birth to a baby boy last week.
Raped daughter since 2020
Harian Metro reported that the 41-year-old suspect first sexually abused his daughter back in 2020. In October of the same year, he raped her and did so again on June 5, 2023 at 8am.
According to the victim, she tried to protect herself by changing the locks to her room but failed.
Muar district police chief Assistant Commissioner Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz told the court that the suspect’s crime finally came to light when the victim underwent a physical examination at school after she noticed physical changes taking place in her body.
However, she was unaware of her pregnancy before she eventually filed a police report against her father.

The suspect, who was first charged on June 14, pleaded guilty to all eight charges, seven of which pertained to him raping his daughter.
He was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act 2017, which was read together with Section 16 of the same act, which provides for an imprisonment of up to five years and caning.
Additionally, he was charged under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and 10 strokes of the cane.
The court then handed down a sentence of five years in prison and three strokes of the cane, as well as an additional three years and two strokes of the cane for sexual abuse.
For the rape charge, the suspect was sentenced to 30 years in prison and 10 strokes of the cane for each charge.
However, for the sexual abuse charge, the court ordered both sentences to run consecutively, while the rape charge would run concurrently with all the sentences starting from June 8, the date of the suspect’s arrest.
Open rebuke from judge
After hearing the case and handing down the sentence, the suspect was given an open rebuke from Sessions Court Judge Abu Bakar Manat.
“Have you ever considered her future before doing this? The child became your responsibility and trust as a father.
“Children are a gift from God. There are many who hope to have children but can’t have any even after consulting doctors,” he said.
