Angry that his wife wouldn’t give in to his request to engage in intercourse, a local man resorted to physical violence as a form of retaliation.
He was later arrested and charged for assaulting his wife, which led him to be sentenced to jail for six months, reported Sinar Harian.

The incident took place inside the couple’s bedroom at a house on Jalan Pokok Mangga, Kampung Padang in Melaka at around 2am last Friday (Jan 10).

According to the facts of the case, the accused had asked his wife to have sex with him but she refused, citing exhaustion from caring for their one-year-old child.
It was also reported that she had grown tired of his relentless requests for sexual relations on a daily basis.
Upon hearing his wife’s refusal, the accused flew into a rage and proceeded to slap and punch her multiple times. He also strangled her, causing her to be unable to breathe.
However, the accused’s wife managed to escape and ran out of the room, seeking help from her father-in-law, who lived in the same house.

Sentenced to 6 months in jail
At the Magistrate’s Court, the accused pleaded guilty to the charge framed under Section 375A of the Penal Code when it was read to him before Magistrate Khairunnisak Hassni.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Hanis Aliah Ahmad Kamarulnajuib requested the court to mete out an appropriate sentence, taking into account that the victim was the accused’s wife.

The accused, who was unrepresented, pleaded for a lighter sentence, claiming he had repented and promised not to repeat his actions.
He was eventually sentenced to six months in jail starting from the date of his arrest on Jan 10.
