In an act of kindness, a Malaysian man stopped his car by the roadside and quickly got out to assist a driver whose car had fallen into the ditch.
Tragically, he found himself becoming a casualty and eventually losing his life after getting knocked down by another car which was speeding and lost control.

According to Sin Chew Daily, the heartbreaking incident took place at KM69.4 of the Karak Highway at around 5pm on Saturday (Feb 15), where the victim was identified as 48-year-old Chen Yongfu (transliteration).

Speaking to the Chinese daily, Chen’s brother said the victim was construction contractor who was travelling with two Bangladeshi workers to Kuala Lumpur from Kuantan for work-related matters on the day of the incident.
“Along the way, my brother saw a car which had fallen into the ditch and quickly rescued the driver with the help of two other drivers.
While they were waiting by the roadside for emergency responders, a speeding car which lost control crashed into them,” he recounted.

Dies from injuries
Chen’s brother said he was informed of the accident by the victim’s workers and quickly rushed to the Bentong Hospital. Unfortunately, the victim eventually succumbed to his injuries.
Sin Chew Daily also reported that Chen was a single father who raised three daughters aged 7,9, and 11 all on his own.
“He deeply loved his daughters and personally took them to and from school every day. Our entire family is devastated by his sudden passing, and we will take good care of his children,” said Chen’s brother.

The funeral service is scheduled to be held this Wednesday (Feb 19).
