What would you do if you woke up one day and found a large amount of money suddenly appearing in your bank account? Would you keep it or find out who the real owner is?
This was what happened to a man, who got RM20,100 deposited into his bank account by mistake but ultimately chose to do the right thing.

Had RM20k deposited into bank account by mistake
In a Facebook post by Benz Yeap dated Feb 3, he shared a few photos of his bank account details, where he received RM20,100 out of nowhere.
According to the caption, the transaction was made by an Indian man who had deposited the money into the wrong bank account.

Returns money to rightful owner
While most would consider this windfall as an opportunity of a lifetime and keep the money for themselves, Yeap decided to do otherwise.
In one of the photos, it showed him at a CIMB Bank outlet with a letter issued to him by the bank informing him of the deposit.

Based on the photo, it’s safe to assume that Yeap had resolved the issue with the bank and successfully returned the money to its owner.
Praised for honesty
Yeap’s act of honesty earned him much praise from netizens, who commended him for his integrity.
“This is something worth praising.”

“Brother, I’m proud of what you did. Good people will have good returns in the future.”

Some joked about how difficult it would be for them to return the money if they were the recipient.
“If RM2 million were deposited into my account by mistake, I probably would think (of returning it) for 3 days.”

“Wah…this proves that you’re a rich person. If it were me, I would’ve disappeared with the money.”

Such an honest act! Society would definitely be better if it had more people like Yeap!
Meanwhile, a flower shop which received RM9,400 by mistake denied it ever happened and refused to return the money:
