Being disabled undoubtedly poses a lot of challenges and inconveniences, with one of them being unable to drive a car.
However, a young man refused to let his physical disability prevent him from going places with a car and came up with an ingenious way to drive with the help of metal rods alone.
M’sian man drives car using metal rods
In a close to 5-minute long video posted by @galerikeretaofficial on TikTok, it showed the young man named Aiman telling the cameraperson how he maneuvers the car despite having no legs since birth.
According to him, all he needed was the help of metal rods, which act as the gas pedal and brakes, as well as good hand coordination.
I use my right hand solely for the gas pedal and brakes, while my left hand is tasked with controlling the steering wheel, wipers, and headlights.
“I also consulted the Road Transport Department (JPJ) before installing the metal rods and they gave it the green light,” he said.
Wants to be independent
While people like Aiman would rely on others to help transport them around, the young man said he refused to go down the same route.
I want to be independent and not trouble my family members. If those whose condition are worse than mine but can be successful, why can’t I?
“I’ve also been driving this car for 7 years now, so I don’t want my condition to come in the way of my daily routine,” he added.

Aiman’s unwavering determination has since touched netizens, who praised him for refusing to let his disability prevent him from driving.
A netizen jokingly lamented that he was still unable to drive a car properly despite being an able-bodied person.
