A man has come under heavy criticism after he was caught openly drinking beer inside a halal-certified restaurant in Kajang, Selangor, despite repeated warnings from staff.
The incident, which quickly went viral after a diner shared it on Threads, has been condemned by netizens as “disrespectful” and “provocative”, with many urging authorities to take immediate action.
Brought his own beer, demanded a cup
According to the eyewitness, the man casually pulled out a can of beer from his bag while dining with his child after school.
He then requested a cup from the restaurant staff and proceeded to pour the beer into it before drinking in full view of other customers.

Is this even legal? Can someone drink alcohol in a halal restaurant? He even asked for a cup for his beer!” the diner wrote, expressing frustration.
Restaurant staff immediately approached the man and asked him to stop. However, he refused to comply and reportedly lashed out at them, insisting, “We are all satuMalaysia!”
Security called in, but man refused to back down
Security personnel later stepped in to de-escalate the situation, but the man continued to insist he had done nothing wrong.
He claimed he was only having a meal with his child and saw no reason to be interrupted.
To avoid further controversy, the restaurant eventually discarded the cup used by the man after he left.
Netizens condemn disrespectful behavior
The video has since drawn a flood of criticism online, with many accusing the man of provoking religious sensitivities and showing blatant disrespect to the halal certification.
