Animal abuse is sadly not a new issue in Malaysia as every now and then there would be cases of animals being hurt by their owners.
A disturbing video showing a cat being dragged across the corridor has recently surfaced online and triggered a wave of anger and outcry from netizens.
M’sian man drags cat by its neck with rope
In the clip shared on Facebook by Malaysia Animal Association, a man clad in a black t-shirt and shorts is seen dragging a grey cat by its neck using a rope at condominium located at Old Klang Road.
All throughout the video, the cat was clearly in great pain and is seen struggling and yowling as it was hauled along the corridor.
At one point of the clip, the cat completely goes limp and slumps to its side as a trail of urine appears due to it urinating due to the extreme pain.
In the caption, Malaysia Animal Association president Arie Dwi Andika called upon the person who filmed the horrifying incident to file a police report and identify the abuser.
He added that the organisation is also offering an RM3,000 reward to the individual who does so, along with becoming a witness until the abuser is arrested, charged and sentenced in court.
Suspect arrested
NST later reported that police have since nabbed a 43-year-old man around 6.10pm at his residence by the Brickfields Serious Crimes Investigation Unit (D9).
KL City police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the man was remanded and the case will be probed under Section 428 of the Penal Code for mischief by killing or maiming an animal.
