We’ve been encountering quite a bit of news regarding frequently spoiled food, and here’s another incident to contribute to that list.
Recently, a Malaysian who was midway through his meal, purchased from a stall in Johor, was startled to find small creatures crawling on his plate – maggots.

Taking it to a Facebook group, the OP shared his harrowing dining experience that happened on Monday (March 25th).
In his post, he explained that he ordered lamb, potatoes, and salted eggs with rice and started eating after paying for it.
“Halfway through, I noticed something moving,” he said, pointing out maggots under the salted egg yolks.
Without hesitation, he approached the counter to report the matter. They simply instructed him to procure a fresh meal, with the payment covered by them.
Due to the OP’s urgency to return to work and reluctance to escalate the situation, he opted for another meal.
The vendor didn’t take any action
What particularly bothered the OP was the vendor’s attitude. Even though they were aware that the salted egg dish was contaminated by maggots, they failed to address the problem and continued selling it without taking any action.
“It’s shameful that they continue to sell it without properly addressing the issue‼️ Having to worry about hygiene when eating a mixed rice dish is truly disheartening. I hope they will reflect on this incident,” the OP expressed in his post.
Netizens were disgusted
In the comments, netizens expressed their shock and disbelief about the whole situation.
“This thing is hard to detect, I guess other people might have eaten it too.”
“I couldn’t eat anything for the whole day after that.”
Some netizens also suggested that he report this issue to the authorities.
“You can report this to the health department.”
“Complaining to the health department was the right step. They will take appropriate action, and if necessary, impose sanctions or closures on the establishment.”
