M’sian Man Slumps From Chair & Dies At Open Air Market In Sarawak

He fell asleep at the table and passed away 4 hours later.
A man shocked patrons and vendors in Sarikei, Sarawak after he suddenly collapsed to the ground from his chair and subsequently died at the scene.

According to The Borneo Post, the incident took place at an open air market located along Jalan Merdeka on Friday (May 22).

Sarikei District Police Chief Supt Aswandy Anis told the online portal that based on preliminary investigations, the man reportedly fell asleep at one of the tables at about 4am.

At 8.25am, he suddenly collapsed from the chair to the floor, causing a nearby shop owner to contact emergency services.

Unfortunately, medical personnel found that he had died and the body was later sent to Sarikei Hospital for further action.

Aswandy said police found no signs of criminal action in the incident and ruled it as sudden death (SDR).

The man’s next of kin have also been identified and notified of the tragedy.

Aswandy urged the public to refrain from speculating on the matter as it could interfere with ongoing investigations.
