A certain nasi kandar shop in Penang, which has achieved a high amount of online fame in recent months thanks to customers and content creators attempting to break records, has found itself under the limelight again.
This time, it was thanks to a local influencer and food reviewer setting yet another record with a mouth-dropping amount of RM350.
M’sian man devours RM350 nasi kandar, sets highest record
In a Facebook post shared by Nasi Kandar Sulaiman yesterday (Aug 19), it wrote that the record was set by Ashwad Fat Burger, who’s a well known influencer and food reviewer.
It also wrote that this isn’t the first time Ashwad had devoured such a humongous plate of nasi kandar, noting that he did the same last year by finishing off a plate of nasi kandar worth RM222.
As seen from one of the photos, the tray was laden with a generous amount of ingredients such as prawns, squid, meat and a giant fish head before it was ‘drowned’ in a pool of curry gravy.
The restaurant also posted a video of Ashwad completely wiping the tray clean of whatever it had on it previously to prove that the content creator was able to finish off everything without batting an eye within an hour.
To show how the nasi kandar came to the RM350 amount, Nasi Kandar Sulaiman provided a breakdown of its pricing:
- Rice: RM1.50
- Prawns: RM8 x 33 (RM264)
- Squid: RM8.50 x 2 (RM17)
- Chicken: RM5.50
- Fish head: RM50
- Hard-boiled egg: RM1
- Okra: RM1
- Egg with onions: RM2
- Squid roe: RM8
‘Enough to last for a year’
The post has since gone viral and garnered over 3,000 reactions so far, as well as thousands of comments from netizens who were floored by Ashwad’s gastronomical feat.
One joked that Ashwad was probably eating a year’s worth of nasi kandar before returning to the stall for a ‘refill’.
Another cheekily gave a tip to those looking to set a new nasi kandar record for life, saying that all they needed to do was to order six fish heads and 25 pieces of prawns.
Meanwhile, one netizen expressed concern for the health implications that come by gorging on such a huge amount of nasi kandar, adding that Ashwad must remember to exercise as well.
