A man expressed his frustration over what he described as his wife’s unreasonable spending habits and her tendency to lash out whenever she doesn’t get what she wants.
According to mStar, his wife becomes upset if he refuses to buy her new items—even when she already owns similar things that are still in good condition.
Sharing his experience on social media, the man said his wife’s desire to portray a luxurious lifestyle is completely different from his own upbringing, where he was taught not to be wasteful.
Why is it that when a wife is angry, she can just say whatever she wants without thinking? She gets mad just because she can’t buy something she wants. At home, she insists on everything being brand new. It’s not that I can’t afford it—I can—but the old ones are still usable,” he wrote.
“She just wants to look rich”
The man went on to say that almost all household chores—including cleaning, cooking, and laundry—are handled by their domestic helper, while his wife spends most of her time on her phone.
My wife acts like she’s rich when she’s actually from a B40 family. She has nothing, and her family can’t give her anything. Yet, she wants to show off. ” he complained.
“Even when I asked for a drink, and she told the maid to do it. She basically just sits at home glued to her phone,”
He added that despite his frustrations, he has chosen to remain patient, hoping that peace and harmony will eventually return to their marriage.
Netizens advise husband to educate, not explode
After reading his post, many netizens sympathised and advised him to handle the situation with patience and leadership.
Just be patient and guide her properly. She needs to obey her husband. Set a good example, pray together, and she will be ashamed to behave that way,” one commenter wrote.
Another advised him to communicate instead of bottling up his emotions, saying, “As the head of the family, you must know how to discuss things with your wife.”
