Seeing people our age buy their dream homes and excel in their careers sometimes makes us feel like we’re falling behind, especially when our journey takes a turn for the worse.
Recently, a 33-year-old Malaysian man shared his heartbreaking story of how his father’s actions led to his bankruptcy at the age of 23, leaving him with the unable to purchase a home or travel abroad.
M’sian man blames father for making him bankrupt
Sharing his story in the Facebook group Muflis Bankrupt di Malaysia, the man said that when he was just 18, his father used his name to open a company. He added that he never questioned his father about it as he trusted him fully.
Unfortunately, the business never succeeded and was forced to close down, leaving the young man having to pay a hefty RM100,000 fine and eventually declared bankruptcy when he turned 23.
As a result, he is unable to purchase a home or travel overseas, something which he resents his father for.
10 years have passed and now I’m 33. Every time I confront my father, he pretends not to understand (my situation) and my mother would always tell me to be patient and to see it as a test from God.
“As a son, I feel deeply betrayed by my own father and I regret trusting him in the first place,” he wrote.

In the comment section, netizens felt sorry for the man’s predicament and tried offering him words of advice in dealing with the situation.
“I understand how you feel. I was betrayed by my brother and went bankrupt. Go for and don’t neglect on repayment. I did it via insolvency and I’m not restricted from leaving the country.’
“I’m sorry, sir. Don’t blame your father. Maybe your father had good intentions to build a business but failed. Just accept it. The best way is to find a way to solve the issue.’
