They say that dogs are a man’s best friend for life, and this certainly rang true for a Malaysian man who took care of a stray dog since its puppy days.
Sadly, their years of friendship and companionship were cut short after the man had to move elsewhere and leave the dog behind.
M’sian man bids goodbye to stray dog he cared for years
In a brief but touching 40-second TikTok video, the man (@nakgemoksikit) shared about the many memories he had made with a stray dog named Gendut.
In the in-text caption, the OP wrote that he had been taking care of Gendut ever since it was a puppy.
He added that every time he returned to his hometown, Gendut would always be waiting to receive him by wagging its tail excitedly and engage in a race along the road, which was the dog’s favourite activities.
Unfortunately, their many years of companionship came to an end when the OP had to move elsewhere in the city and couldn’t bring Gendut along.
I’m sorry, Gendut. We’re forced to move elsewhere. Please take care of yourself and I hope you’re able to find food for yourself. Thank you for taking care of the farm and house all this while.
“I hope one day you’ll find a beautiful wife for yourself too,” he cheekily added in the caption.
Perhaps sensing that it was the last time to see its human companion, Gendut walked ahead of the OP’s car as a way of sending him off to his next destination.
Netizens heartbroken
The clip has since been viewed over 270,000 times so far and netizens were deeply saddened to see Gendut part ways with the OP.
‘Poor thing. Please don’t leave him.’
‘This is so sad. After this Gendut must be missing you and waiting for your return.’
In a separate video, the OP clarified that he didn’t abandoned Gendut but found someone else to care for it. He also thanked netizens for praying for the dog’s wellbeing.
