Fights and squabbles between siblings are quite common as there will definitely be moments of disagreements. However, would you assault your own sibling over an aircond?
This was unfortunately what one grown man did to his own flesh and blood following a verbal argument over an aircond, resulting in him getting fined.
M’sian man beats brother up during fight over an aircond
Based on the facts of the case, 33-year-old Muhamad Faeez Assyafiq Firdaus wanted to take an aircond from his mother’s home but was stopped by his 26-year-old brother, reported Harian Metro.
As a result, a verbal altercation broke out between the two men and Muhamad Faeez proceeded to beat his brother, leaving him injured.
Court documents showed that the assault took place at a house in Simpang 5, Parit Sulong, Johor at 1.30pm on August 31.
After the incident, the victim received treatment at Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital (HSNI) and lodged a report at the Parit Sulong police station, which led to Muhamad Faeez being arrested on the same day.
Fined RM1,500 for assault
Muhamad Faeez was later brought to the Yong Peng Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Sept 3) to face charges under Section 323 of the Penal Code for causing voluntary hurt, a charge he pleaded guilty to.
Under the section, he faces up to one year in prison, a fine of RM2,000, or both, if found guilty.
In court, even Magistrate Suhaila Shafi’uddin had a hard time believing that Muhamad Faeez would actually hurt his own brother over an aircond, where she reportedly asked, “Did you both argue because of the air conditioner?”
Muhamad Faeez was eventually fined RM1,500 by the court for the assault.
