Amat Darobi, a 28-year-old photographer, made headlines when a video of him attending his ex-girlfriend’s wedding dressed as a “ninja turtle” went viral on social media.
Invited to ex-girlfriend wedding
According to reports, Darobi was invited to his ex-girlfriend’s wedding in Perak, Johor, and decided to disguise himself and hide his identity by renting a “ninja turtle” costume for RM50 for six hours.
Darobi explained that he was initially nervous and embarrassed to wear the costume but felt that it was the best way to attend the wedding without causing any trouble.
“At first, I was thinking about how to attend her wedding because I knew there would be emotions involved, and I couldn’t stay too long,” he said. “Somehow, I had an idea later on, so I rented this costume for six hours.”
In the video that has since gone viral, Darobi can be seen offering his blessings to the newlyweds while disguised as a “ninja turtle.”
Guests find his costume entertaining
During the wedding, Darobi’s presence in the “ninja turtle” costume provided some entertainment for the wedding guests, and many attendees took photos with him.
No one at the wedding reportedly knew his true identity until one of his ex-girlfriend’s friends recognized him.
Offers blessings
Despite the initial shock and confusion, Darobi said that the bride and groom were understanding and even took a photo with him before he left the wedding.
“We started dating in 2015 and ended our relationship only last year. Fate had it that she got married to someone else today. I accept God’s arrangement, and sharing the video on social media is just to keep it as a memory,” he said.
He explained that he didn’t dress up like this to “cause trouble” but just to offer his blessings as he was invited to do so.
The video has since garnered over 850,000 views on TikTok, with many users praising Darobi for his unique approach to attending his ex-girlfriend’s wedding.
