A 7-year-old boy is now fighting for his life after he was allegedly assaulted by his uncle with a hammer in Jelawat, Kelantan yesterday (Sept 25).
In an unexpected twist of events, the suspect was later found lifeless by police, where his body was seen hanging from a tree.
M’sian man allegedly attacks nephew with hammer
According to Harian Metro, police were alerted of the incident at 5.15pm, where the victim was struck on the head with a hammer at the suspect’s residence.
The victim, who sustained severe injuries, was then rushed to the Universiti Sains Malaysia Specialist Hospital (HPUSM) for treatment and currently remains in a critical condition.

Allegedly hung himself
Hours after the attack, police found the suspect’s body hanging from a casuarina tree at Pantai Melawi, which was located more than three kilometers from the scene of the hammer attack, reported Berita Harian.
Bachok deputy district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azrie Sulaiman said the suspect’s body was handed over to forensic officers.

Was a drug addict
Mohd Azrie added that investigations found that the suspect struggled with drug addiction and was believed to have reprimanded the victim prior to the attack.
“The exact motive behind the suspect’s action in assaulting his nephew is still under investigation.
“The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt and Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001,” he said.
