‘Filthiest Water Ever!’ — M’sian Influencer Shocked By Dark Brown Tap Water At Melaka Hotel

She claimed to have suffered a sore and itchy throat.
Whenever one stays at a hotel, he/she would expect the establishment to provide clean and safe amenities such at towels, water, and bedsheets to be prepared during their stay.

A local influencer and entrepreneur was left disgusted and flabbergasted after she discovered that a five-star hotel in Melaka had dark brown tap water flowing out from it.

In the first video, it showed two sinks being filled up with murky, brown water, while the other clip showed a giant bathtub being filled to the brim with water that could’ve passed as ‘teh o’ limau’.

According to her, she suffered an itchy and sore throat after using the water to brush her teeth, adding in the in-text caption that this was the “filthiest water in the world” she had ever seen.

I’m deeply troubled when our kids have taken a shower with this dirty water. How can this take place at a world renowned hotel?” she lamented.

However, Aleeya didn’t disclose in either of the videos the name or location of the hotel.

Netizens horrified by videos

Both clips quickly garnered widespread attention from netizens, who were equally as disgusted by how filthy the water was.

Some also likened the water’s appearance to Boh tea and Milo, both of which we’re confident look and taste way better than the tap water itself.

Addresses accusations of chasing clout

Shortly after Aleeya’s posts went viral, she was accused by netizens of defaming the hotel in order to gain publicity for herself, reported mStar.

The following day, she responded to the allegations in a series of Instagram stories, where she said she didn’t have to resort to such tactics as she was very successful in running her cosmetic brand.

I made the matter known as I wanted the hotel to take responsibility and improve its quality of service.

“As a Malaccan myself, I’m concerned about how such incidents can affect the state’s image among tourists if they were to face the same thing,” she said.

She also revealed that she has received many messages from others who had a similar experience, adding that the issue has been ongoing since last year.
