Graduation is undoubtedly a special occasion for those leaving university and venturing into the working world and some would celebrate it in various ways.
A graduate tried to commemorate the occasion by singing a classic but vocally challenging tune in front of fellow graduates but instead got bashed for his less-than-perfect performance.
Tried singing Michael Bolton tune
In a 1-minute clip which was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @TohPuanNetwork, it showed a male graduate belting out Michael Bolton’s ‘Go The Distance’ in front of other graduates and lecturers.
Throughout the performance, the graduate could be seen doing his best to hit the super high notes, but unfortunately some fell flat or went completely offkey in the process.
Although a majority of the audience cheered him on and clapped encouragingly, some could be seen exchanging uncomfortable glances at each other, presumably a bit put off by the singing.
M’sian grad slammed for offkey performance during convocation
@TohPuanNetwork didn’t mince her words concerning the graduate’s performance, writing, “Not sorry to say but please stop singing. Your voice isn’t nice to hear! Try doing cooking videos, food hunting or whatever. Stop being delusional and post it on social media just to get backlash.”
A majority of netizens also seemed to agree with her, who felt that the graduate’s singing left a lot to be desired.
‘Too many delusional people these days.’
‘I felt sorry for the audiences.’
Some also criticised the graduate for making a mockery of a formal occasion such as convocations with his singing.
However, there was one netizen who praised the graduate for at least giving it a shot and encouraged him to keep on improving.
