Convocations are one of the most important events in an individual’s life as it signals the end of his/her academic journey and the start of a new phase.
Despite all the excitement, a sense of nervousness inevitably creeps in when one goes on stage to receive the scroll with hundreds of eyes watching them, sometimes leading to hilarious blunders, like what happened with this graduand at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM)

M’sian grad knocks off scroll by mistake
In a 28-second Tiktok video posted by user @_jellybean18, it captured a comical sequence of events during the ceremony.
As the graduate approached the dean and gave him a bow, his mortarboard flew off his head. In his attempt to retrieve and wear it again, he accidentally knocked the scroll off the dean’s hands, causing it to fall to the stage.

After fixing the mortarboard firmly on his head, the graduand confidently walks off the stage, but quickly backpedals after he realised he forgot to retrieve his scroll from the stage.
He then bent down and picked the scroll from the stage before leaving for the final time as the crowd burst into roars of laughter and applause in the background.

Amused reactions
The clip has since garnered over 800,000 views at the time of writing and netizens couldn’t help but to laugh over the graduand’s hilarious blunder.
