A GrabFood delivery rider’s mishap turned into a remarkable encounter when his motorbike skidded on a poorly lit road, resulting in his customer’s meal being scattered across the pavement.
The incident prompted him to share his gratitude for the customer’s unexpected kindness on the GrabFood Rider Malaysia Facebook group.
From mishap to gratitude
As he narrated in his social media post, the rider was en route to deliver a meal to a customer named Nazurah.
He unexpectedly hit a hump on a dimly lit, less-frequented road, causing his belongings, including Nazurah’s food, to spill out onto the roadway.
In the aftermath of the accident, he promptly notified the customer about the incident and offered to replace her order.
However, Nazurah declined his offer and expressed her concern for his well-being instead.
This response left the rider feeling touched and guilty. Upon reaching her residence, he apologized again for the unfortunate incident. He was further surprised when Nazurah not only forgave him but also declined his suggestion to claim a refund from GrabFood, which she had paid for through Grab Pay.
To his astonishment, he found out that Nazurah had also tipped him. Even though the tip was small, he appreciated the gesture as it demonstrated her recognition of the hard work that delivery riders put into their jobs.
The rider was quick to clarify that he wasn’t sharing his story to garner praise. Instead, he aimed to use his experience as a lesson for his peers about the significance of responsibility in their line of work. He highlighted the rarity of coming across such generous individuals like Nazurah, calling them “limited edition.”
The rider’s post concluded with a piece of advice to his peers: to own up to their mistakes and apologize sincerely when accidents occur.
