Kindness is one of the simplest yet most profound gifts someone can give.
Recently, a generous Malaysian man, renowned for his acts of kindness, gifted a new motorbike to 69-year-old Uncle Basri after witnessing him ride a bicycle to pick up his daughter from school.
Adrian Edy shared the heartwarming story on his Instagram, showing how a simple act of kindness made a big difference in Uncle Basri’s life.
Adrian recounted coming across a video that showed Uncle Basri riding a bicycle with his young daughter, Putri Sarah, as they made their way home from school.
Moved by the sight, Adrian decided to reach out and learn more about Uncle Basri’s circumstances.
He discovered that for 11 years, Uncle Basri had been a beloved ice cream seller around Lahad Datu.
However, due to declining health, he had to stop working and now relied on his bicycle to manage daily errands, including transporting his daughter to and from school.
The dedicated father, who has ten children, would drop Putri Sarah off at school at 11am. and then wait at the mosque until 5pm to pick her up.
The journey to school takes about 20 minutes each way. Adrian noted, “The family doesn’t own a car and relies on others for transportation.”
Recognising the struggles faced by Uncle Basri, Adrian, with the support of kind-hearted people, decided to gift him a new motorcycle.
“Now, he can use it to take and pick up his daughter from school, go to town to buy necessities, and make his life a little easier,” Adrian shared.
When presented with the motorbike, Uncle Basri was overwhelmed with gratitude and disbelief.
Adrian quoted him saying, “He said this might be a blessing for his child, as he never imagined receiving a motorcycle.”
In closing his post, Adrian expressed heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to the mission, stating, “Thank you to everyone who prayed, donated funds, and supported this mission. You can continue contributing to the next aid mission, and only God can repay your kindness.”
