No one likes getting a compound notice as it would require lots of time and money settling it, especially if it was issued under questionable circumstances.
A netizen recently took to social media to air his unhappiness after he was wrongly issued a fine for not paying for parking due to an error made by the Sungai Petani City Council (MPSP).
Wrong number plate recorded
In a post shared on Facebook, the man showed a photo of his car number plate which bore the letters ‘PPK’, and the one listed in the compound notice which was ‘PRK’.

In the caption, he wrote that he had paid a day’s worth of parking fees but was shocked to discover that he had been fined for not paying for parking.
He also blasted MPSP for not doing their due diligence before issuing the fine.
Come on, if you’re going to issue a fine, at least key in the plate number correctly in the system.

“Now the car owner is the one getting fined for no reason! Who knows, maybe their car is at home or somewhere else. It’s quite unfair!”
MPSP apologises
In the comment section, netizens also didn’t hold back in criticising MPSP for the blunder, with some saying that the officer who issued the fine either didn’t complete SPM or was looking to take a bribe.

Another recounted how he was wrongly punished by MPSP for an offense he didn’t commit and had to spend much time in settling it in court.

Following the outrage, MPSP responded to the incident by apologising for the mistake and said it had already rectified the situation.
