No one likes having to wait for a long time for money they lent to others to be returned, but it definitely isn’t an excuse to assault the borrower either.
A 20-year-old snooker worker was slapped with a RM1,000 fine after she pleaded guilty to physically assaulting a woman who failed to return her a sum of money on time.
Assaulted woman over RM300 debt
According to NST, snooker centre worker Nur Arina Aqilah Kelana was brought to the magistrate’s court in Batu Pahat, Johor, to face charges of physical assault.
According to the facts of the case, Arina had gone to the snooker centre and pulled the victim’s hair and slapped her on the cheek, all because the victim had failed to return the RM300 she owed.
She also allegedly shoved the victim, causing the latter to fall before grabbing the victim’s handphone.
A police report was later filed at the Batu Pahat district police headquarters by the victim, who was injured by the altercation.

Arina was subsequently charged under under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt, where it carries a jail sentence of up to a year, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both if convicted.
After pleading guilty to the charge, Arina told magistrate Suhaila Safi’uddin the reason for the assault:
I did it (hit and pulled her hair) because she did not pay back the RM300 she owed me.
Following her guilty plea, Arina was fined RM1,000 by the court in lieu of a month in jail if she fails to pay the fine.
