A young man is feared to have drowned after allegedly jumping from the Penang Bridge at Kilometer 6.8, heading from Perai towards the island, last night (29 Sept).
The victim, in his 30s, left a Toyota Corolla car parked by the side of the bridge wall.
According to Kosmo!, the state fire department spokesperson stated that they received a call about the incident at 11.15pm, and search and rescue (SAR) operations involving the fire department’s personnel from the Jalan Perak Fire and Rescue Department were initiated.
“When the fire and rescue team arrived at the scene, it was suspected that a victim had jumped into the sea, leaving behind a white Toyota car.
“Search and rescue operations were carried out but had to be postponed due to adverse weather conditions and rough seas.
“After discussions with other agencies, the search operation resumes at 8 a.m. today,” the spokesperson said.
