Given the fact that multiculturalism is very much alive in Malaysia, it’s common to see people from different backgrounds come together and celebrate festivities with each other.
Recently, a TikTok video caught netizens’ attention for heartwarming scenes that showed a Malay family tucking into a banana leaf meal at their Indian neighbours’ home.

In the clip which was shared on Monday (Dec 29), it showed OP’s family being served banana leaf rice along with many side dishes such as chicken sambal, dhal, and payasam.
Speaking to WeirdKaya, the OP named Hanis said the meal at the home of her neighbours, Stan Emmanual and Florence, adding that it was her first time trying out banana leaf rice for herself.
“We have been celebrating Hari Raya and Christmas together with them for the past six years, and usually I would be the one who would plan the menu and prepare the food.
“This year, it was even more special as Stan and Florence wanted to introduce banana leaf rice to us, something which I was very excited for and looked forward to,” she said.
