M’sian Engineer With PhD Earns Only RM3K Monthly Working At Photocopy Shop For 6 Years

Getting a job ain't easy.
It’s undeniable that finding a job in one’s field of study has become increasingly difficult, leading many to take positions unrelated to their qualifications.

In a recent Facebook post, a Malaysian man shared a heartfelt story about his friend who has struggled to find a job in his field despite holding a PhD in engineering.

Working for someone else

“He works for someone else, not his own business. He has been at the photocopy shop for six years now,” the man wrote on Facebook.

He further explained that his friend has been unable to secure a job that matches his qualifications, despite attending numerous interviews.

“He says he hasn’t received any job offers that match his PhD qualifications. He has gone for interviews. I just found out about his situation,” he wrote, mentioning that he thought his friend was working as a lecturer.

The struggles of an introverted person

Describing his friend as an introvert who speaks cautiously and slowly, the man highlighted the personal challenges his friend faces in social interactions.

Despite these challenges, they recently met to update his friend’s phone number in the Public Mutual system.

“He used to invest cash, and now the money has doubled. So, he wants to top up his investment,” the post noted.

Living a debt-free life

Interestingly, his friend’s financial data revealed no home loan, car loan, or personal loan, indicating a debt-free life.

“Initially, I felt sorry for him. But then I felt sorry for myself instead. It’s better that he has no loans at all. Living a peaceful life without debt,” the man reflected.
