A Malaysian employee recently shared a detailed account on X of how he stood up to a boss who allegedly tried to withhold his bonus without valid reason.
The anonymous post was shared on X and quickly drew attention for its step by step breakdown of how the situation unfolded.
Boss allegedly threatened to deny bonus
According to the employee, the trouble began when his boss allegedly threatened not to give him his bonus even though he had already received an official email confirming a six-month bonus entitlement.

The employee claimed the boss was upset because he failed to properly explain a project to top management and was scolded for it.
Following that, the boss allegedly sent threatening messages to the employee on WhatsApp.
Sensing something was off, the employee said he screenshot all the messages and saved them in a file on his computer.

Allegedly asked for a share of bonus
When bonus day came, the employee received his six-month bonus in his bank account.
Shortly after, he claimed his boss came to his desk asking whether he had received the bonus, while giving what he described as a “sarcastic smile”.
When the employee confirmed he had just received it earlier that morning, he alleged the boss looked shocked and then said he wanted a portion of the bonus, claiming the employee did not deserve the full amount.
At that moment, the employee said he decided to record the conversation, especially after finding out that the boss himself only received two and a half months worth of bonus.
Compiled evidence and reported to HR
Following the incident, the employee claimed he compiled all evidence including WhatsApp threats, call logs, and audio recordings.

After lunch on the same day, he said he sent a 24 hour resignation notice and stated he was willing to pay one month of compensation. He also emailed HR, copying both his boss and head of department.
By 3pm, the boss allegedly came to his desk demanding to know why he had filed a report. The employee claimed more threats were made, which he also managed to record.
The employee said he immediately forwarded the latest threats to HR. Shortly after, the head of department reportedly went to the boss’s desk to conduct an investigation.
He claimed he overheard that the boss was fired on the spot, allegedly because he had previously received a warning letter.
Apologised after being fired
Later that day, after reaching home, the employee said the boss sent him long WhatsApp messages apologising and asking him to withdraw the report.
He also claimed the boss offered to give him all the bonus he had received in exchange for dropping the case.
However, the employee added that HR and management still advised him to proceed with his resignation.
At the same time, they allegedly told him the company needed him and was willing to increase his salary by RM2,500.
Employee accepted new terms and closed the chapter
With the boss no longer in the company, the employee said he agreed to stay under the new terms.
He claimed HR handed him a salary increment letter before he left the office that day.
As for his former boss, the employee ended his post saying he no longer wanted to think about him and whatever happens next is no longer his concern.
