The accident occurred around 10:30am today in the Bangsar area, near a gas station in Jalan Klang Lama.

According to Assistant Director, Sarifudin Mohd Salleh of the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department, preliminary investigations revealed that the lorry, loaded with iron, was parked in a fueling bay at the said station.

The incident unfolded when the lorry driver, aged 52, left the vehicle to pay at the counter.

Unexpectedly, the lorry began to roll backwards, colliding with a Honda City that was preparing to exit the gas station onto the main road.

“Fortunately, the collision did not result in injuries to either driver or the public,” Sharifuddin stated.

He mentioned that the police are currently investigating the incident under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1959 (LN166/59), which pertains to the failure to properly engage a handbrake.
