‘Please Come Home’: M’sian Dad Begs Runaway Son Who Borrowed From Loan Sharks For 3rd Time

"We don't know where he is or whether he is safe. We just want him to come home."
A man from Seri Kembangan had one simple plea for his 25-year-old son who’s on the run from loan sharks: “Come home.”

This comes after he received a call from illegal moneylenders informing him that his youngest son had once again borrowed money from them.

Borrowed money 3 times

According to the man simply known as Koh, he said he lost contact with his son, Kuang Shyh, after getting a call from loan sharks about an unsettled debt.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time the younger Koh had gotten into trouble with loan sharks.

Last December, Koh’s son borrowed RM8,000 from two loan sharks to repay a car loan and later sought help from MCA Public Services and Complaints Department to negotiate a settlement.

In June of this year, he returned to the bureau again after borrowing RM31,000 from 12 loan sharks. Once again, the bureau came to his aid.

However, it seemed that it did nothing to convince Koh’s son to stop borrowing money, which ultimately led to Koh getting a call from loan sharks regarding another debt.

‘Please come home’

Though frustrated with his son’s actions, Koh is still waiting for his wayward son to return home safely.

My son, if you see this, please come home. Whatever the problem is, we can solve it together as a family. Running away is not the answer.

“We have not been able to contact him until today. We don’t know where he is or whether he is safe. We just want him to come home,” he said.

MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong, who organised the press conference, said the case was an example of the vicious cycle faced by borrowers who can’t seem to stop approaching loan sharks.

Chong added that the family intends to disown the younger Koh as they were deeply disappointed by him.

“I understand the family’s frustration, but our priority now is for him to return home safely and face the problem. Running away will only make matters worse.”
