We Malaysians are known for being the biggest foodies as our culture is very much revolved around food. And sometimes, that love for food even influences how joyous occasions are celebrated.
A couple recently tickled netizens with their unorthodox choice of dessert for their wedding, where they ordered a ‘burger cake’ instead of the traditional kind.
M’sian couple opts for 1.5kg burger instead of wedding cake
In a 21-second long clip shared by the makers of the ‘burger cake’ on TikTok, it begins with the newlyweds cutting into the massive creation and posing for photos with it.

The camera then pans to how the burger was made, where it consisted of ingredients such as lettuce, beef patty, cheese, and mayonnaise that was sandwiched between two giant sesame buns before being delivered to the couple.
According to the caption, the ‘burger cake’ weighed 1.5kg and was served to guests at the wedding reception.
Speaking to Sinar Harian about the unusual choice of cake, the father of the groom, Dzulikhwan Ahmad Mokhtar, said the burger was requested by his son for his wedding last November.

“Most of the guests at the event were excited to see the couple cutting the burger. Some might find it odd, but it’s actually what makes life interesting.
“A wedding cake doesn’t necessarily have to follow traditional norms. What’s important is that it brings meaning and happiness to the couple,” he said.
‘I want it too!’
The clip has since garnered over 700,000 views so far and netizens have already begun placing orders for their next custom-made wedding cake.

One joked that the ‘burger cake’ would be impractical for him as he would deconstruct it and eat the bread first before moving to the patty.

Another called the ‘burger cake’ a brilliant idea as the guests would be sure to finish it up and thus prevented wastage.
