A man recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to share how his girlfriend became the victim of sexual harassment and stalking at the MRT Kajang line.
The post, which was shared yesterday (Feb 15), has since garnered 1.3 million views and 12,000 likes at the time of writing.
M’sian confronts MRT passenger who took photos of GF without consent
According to the post by @farisabshar, the incident took place while he and his girlfriend were taking the MRT back from MRT Bukit Bintang to MRT Bandar Utama.
During the ride, they noticed a man acting suspiciously and seemingly taking photos of the girlfriend, causing them to change seats.
Unfortunately, the man got off at the same station as they did, leading the OP to confront him.
While he was topping up his TnG, I confronted him. I brought him to the counter and said to the MRT staff that “Dia ni seakan-akan ambik gambar gf saya” (He seemed to be taking photos of my gf). My suspicions were right.
“In his gallery, were pictures of my girlfriend (including her face) and some other inappropriate pictures of other women,” he wrote.
Claims he wasn’t in ‘a right state of mind’
After the MRT staff contacted the auxiliary police, the case was then handed to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
When questioned by the PDRM, he said that he just got let off from work so he was not in the right state of mind (a**hole really tried to use this card).
Unsatisfied with the man’s explanation, the OP and his girlfriend lodged a police report at the Mutiara Damansara police station. Unfortunately, the case couldn’t be investigated further as police felt there was insufficient motive.
Deletes photos from man’s phone
Left with little options, the OP then took it upon himself to wipe off every photo from the man’s phone.
To his shock, he discovered that the man was married and even had pornographic content in his Telegram.
“The guy tried to apologise, saying, ‘Saya mintak maaf tapi saya faham kalau saya tak dimaafkan (I apologise, but I’d understand if you don’t forgive me)…’
“When we were satisfied with checking his phone, we left and PDRM conducted further investigations,” he wrote.
Urges others to be careful
Unsurprisingly, the OP said the incident left him and his girlfriend deeply traumitised and added that his GF didn’t wear any revealing clothes.
He said that he hopes his experience will raise awareness about sexual harassment taking place at public transport and thanked the MRT staff for aiding them.
“To all the fathers, husbands, boyfriends, abangs and guys, please please be alert of your surroundings. If you are feeling suspicious, just take action.
“Now with the existence of AI (artificial intelligence), it’s even more dangerous. Please remember that and think long term. Stay safe everyone.”

Yesterday, me and my girlfriend were heading back from MRT Bukit Bintang to MRT Bandar Utama where we noticed a guy looking as though he was taking pictures of my girlfriend so we quickly changed seats. (cont.)
