He thought the thoughtful act of sending medication to his ill girlfriend would give him a free pass out of trouble, but unfortunately it didn’t turn out that way.
According to Harian Metro, the duo, both in their 30s, were detained by officers and enforcement personnel from the Johor Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JAINJ) at a hotel room at 11.50pm yesterday (Aug 20) for khalwat.
Medication excuse
When interrogated, the man claimed that he had come to the hotel room to deliver medicine at his girlfriend’s request as she was allegedly unwell.

Officers also found that neither of them were married to each other.
Unfortunately for the couple, officers found the medication excuse to be unreasonable and arrested them.
Further checks by JAINJ officers also found that the hotel room had been booked under the woman’s name before the man arrived later that night.
When questioned, the woman claimed she had to stay at the hotel as her house did not have air-conditioning.

The pair were subsequently detained to facilitate investigations under Section 27 of the Johor Syariah Criminal Offences Enactment.
