A 25-year-old job seeker shocked a potential employer by blatantly disregarding the standard hiring process, demanding to start work the next day without submitting a resume or attending an interview.
The youth’s overconfident and dismissive attitude left the employer speechless, prompting them to blacklist the applicant.
Does my age matter?
The incident was shared on Xiaohongshu, where screenshots of the conversation between the employer and the applicant were uploaded.
In the screenshots, the job seeker approached the employer without providing basic information, such as a brief introduction or the position they were applying for.
Confused, the employer inquired about the applicant’s age. Instead of answering directly, the applicant responded with a provocative remark: “Does my age matter? As long as I’m capable, that’s enough.”
After further questioning, the applicant reluctantly revealed that they were 25 years old.
Demand to start working the next day
The situation escalated when the job seeker asked if he could start working the next day, following up with a pointed question: “You must be really short-staffed, right?”
The employer explained that the company needed to review a resume and conduct an interview before deciding on the applicant’s eligibility for the job.
The response they received was even more astonishing:
“Who still prepares a resume these days? Just tell me what information you need, and I’ll give it to you. For something so urgent, you still want me to prepare a resume?”
Frustrated by the applicant’s attitude, the employer uploaded the conversation to Xiaohongshu, expressing disbelief at the lack of basic respect from job seekers.
The post has since sparked discussions on professional conduct and job application etiquette, with many siding with the employer’s decision to blacklist the applicant.
