When the word ‘barista’ comes to mind, most people would usually conjure an image of a person whose sole job is to make and serve coffee to customers.
However, reality can sometimes be vastly different from public perception, as one barista pointed out bitterly in a Threads post.
‘Everything also I do!’
In the post, the OP vented his frustration over having to do every single task necessary, be it important or mundane ones.
“I’m the barista, cashier and floor crew. I take orders, close with customers, close sales, take care of customers, make coffee, collect food, send food and coffee.

“I’m also the one sweeping, mopping, wiping the glass, going into the kitchen to help cook, cleaning the toilet, throwing the rubbish, counting stock, solving kitchen problems, training new staff from zero, and even creating the workflow.
“Everything in that café, I’m the one doing it — from A to Z, from 1 to 100,” he ranted.
To top things off, the OP claimed that he was paid a paltry RM1,700 per month to carry out those tasks.
Mixed reactions
Responses from netizens were a mixed bag, with some expressing sympathy for the OP and encouraged him to take his tough experience as life lessons.

However, some slammed the OP for being too “soft” and unable to endure hardships. They even challenged him to try managing a business for himself before complaining on social media.

Do you think the OP’s complaint was valid? Let us know in the comments!
