M’sia Immigration Department Gifts Birthday Cake To S’pore Counterpart In Conjunction With Their National Day

Very thoughtful.
Though Singapore and Malaysia squabble and exchange words with each other on the Internet over whose food is better, at the end of the day, there’s no doubt that both countries share a strong relationship.

In a show of solidarity and friendship, Malaysia’s Department of Immigration delivered a specially crafted cake to Singapore’s Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA).

In several official photos shared on Facebook, it showed the department chief of immigration at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar handing over the cake to deputy commander of Singapore’s Woodlands Checkpoint, Tong Weijie.

On the cake, it was decorated with key landmarks found only in Singapore such as the Merlion, Marina Bay Sands, and the Singapore Flyer.

In the background, it was the familiar silhouette of the Woodlands Checkpoint building and the cake had the words ‘Happy National Day Singapore‘ written on it.

In the post, the Immigration Office at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar expressed hopes that Malaysia and Singapore will continue to work closely with each other in order to maintain border security.

Johor Crown Prince sends his wishes

Aside from Malaysia’s Immigration Department, Singapore also received well-wishes from Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, who took to Facebook to wish the city-island a happy National Day.

“I truly appreciate Johor’s friendship with Singapore and hope Singapore will continue to be peaceful and prosperous,” he wrote.

We hope Malaysia and Singapore continue their diplomatic relations for years to come!
